How it works

Job offer secured

You apply to cruise lines directly or through licensed maritime recruitment agencies. We provide a list of verified Nigerian maritime recruiters. You need a job offer before visa processing.

STCW safety training

Mandatory for all cruise ship crew. 5-day training in Lagos or Port Harcourt. Covers personal survival, fire prevention, and first aid. Cost: approximately $200.

Medical examination

PEME (Pre-Employment Medical Examination) at a flag-state approved medical centre. Swiipt coordinates the appointment.

C1/D visa application

US Crewmember visa required for ships calling at US ports (most major cruise lines). We prepare your application and advise on the interview at the US Embassy in Abuja.

Joining port

We advise on flights to your joining port (Miami, Barcelona, Southampton, etc.) and what to pack.

Documents required

✓Valid Nigerian passport — minimum 2 years validity recommended

✓Signed employment contract from cruise line

✓STCW safety certificate (we coordinate training)

✓Medical fitness certificate (PEME)

✓Yellow fever vaccination card

✓Seaman discharge book (we advise on obtaining this)
